COMPASS
DIRECTORS BIOS: David
Sittser & Sarah
Butler
Sarah Butler: I am a recent graduate of Whitworth
University, with a major in Theology. I also have spent four years
volunteering with the senior high students at Colbert Presbyterian
Church in North Spokane. I am particularly passionate about
discipling and walking alongside students as they seek to be faithful
followers of Christ, and look forward to a summer with a small group
of talented, committed young people. I desire to do theology
for the sake of the Church and its witness in the world, and will
be pursuing university-level teaching in the next stage of my life.
Aside from theology, though, I am crazy about Camp Spalding, quality
coffee, great conversation and the outdoors. The Compass program
is an ideal amalgamation of a handful of my greatest loves, and
I feel deeply grateful to be a part of this exciting new chapter
in Spalding's ministry!
David Sittser: I am 23 years old and a graduate
of Whitworth College. I am now a blue-collar working man.
My major in college was theology, and I want to spend the
rest of my life doing ministry. I've been working at camp
more summers than would seem possible, and every summer is better
than the last.
My dream job is to do something where I can minister in a great
community of young people as I help them to become closer disciples
of Christ, all while having a great time. Hmm, wait a second,
that sounds exactly like Compass!
I would eventually like to work in the church or to teach. I
am considering going to seminary. But if I couldn't do any
of that, my imaginary dream job would be skiing. Who wouldn't
like that?
Interesting fact about me: I've been to more countries (18) than
states (16).
